First Look Tours Offer a Sneak Peek at What’s Rising at Ascend704

Ascend704 welcomed 30 community members for its first-ever “First Look Tours,” offering an exciting behind-the-scenes preview of the region’s future hub for entrepreneurship, innovation, collaboration, and connection. The tours brought together a diverse mix of entrepreneurs, community leaders, economic developers, and entrepreneurial support organizations — all eager to experience firsthand what Ascend704 is building for Union County and the greater region. Guided by Renee Hode, Executive Director of Ascend704, alongside Peter Marsh, Owner of Workplace Architecture + Design, attendees walked through the active construction site and got an inside look at the spaces designed to inspire creativity, productivity, and meaningful connection. “This project is about much more than a building,” said Hode during the tours. “It’s about creating an place where people and ideas rise together — where entrepreneurs, professionals, remote workers, and community leaders can collaborate, innovate, and grow.” Throughout the walkthrough, guests explored future offices and suites, meeting and training rooms, and several standout features that sparked excitement among attendees. One of the most talked-about spaces was the Social Commons, considered the heart of Ascend704, where conversations, coffee, collaboration, and unexpected connections will naturally happen. Attendees also got a preview of the future podcast and videography studio, designed to help entrepreneurs and organizations create professional content and amplify their voices. Another major highlight was the impressive 4,850-square-foot Event Center, which can accommodate up to 504 attendees depending on configuration. The flexible design also allows the space to be divided into smaller rooms for workshops, meetings, networking events, and community gatherings. The rooftop terrace also captured attention, with plans for happy hours, after-hours networking events, and community gatherings for up to 104 guests. Notable attendees included members of the Tyson family, whose legacy is deeply connected to the vision of Ascend704. The building proudly honors the legacy of L. Carlton Tyson and his lasting impact on Union County and South Piedmont. Also joining the tours was Aregnaz Mooradian, Deputy District Director of the U.S. Small Business Administration, underscoring the broader regional importance of the project and its role in supporting entrepreneurship and economic growth. Construction remains on schedule for completion in early December, with Ascend704 officially opening its doors in January. As anticipation continues to build, Ascend704 will host additional First Look Tours on August 10 and October 26 for those who want an early glimpse at what’s coming.
